The Younger Sister Band Lyrics

7th Sin

by Jessica Segall

mordechai's a farmer
her lived on the sea
he said, "son, all i have you will acheive
scriptures are plenty when there's no harvest to reap"
but a star was born in 1623

when the star was born
a great war was on
100 years they made a ghetto out of babylon
faith made a spade bury god deep in the sand
in a holy rumble christ got the upper hand

Chorus:
and he did sin the 7th sin
let the good light in
sin the 7th sin but do not pray
time's up
end of time
who will give back palestine?
sin, my children, you can sin

well the star he was
a handsome little man
they married that boy not once but twice
he said the sin of the skin
it does not share my life within
bury my body in the cold december ice

not since that great temple was standing
did there exist a man
who made faith spread like wildfire throughout the holy land
sabbathai he was in the lead
he had a hundred forty - thousand different men who agreed
all hedonists believing they could bring on judgement day

chorus

but the sultan he was heavy
said, "you won't take no crown from me
it's been a thousand years since our two faiths did not agree
you're talking fire but i only see smoke
and prosletysing my faith would be your only hope
will you denounce your false prophesy?"

his back took fifty lashes
and he did not scream or cry
but can you be a martyr, now, if life's too good to die?
he considered his options, chose number three
his conversion no diversion to the one's who believe
bow down muhammed, i told a lie

chorus

well hear ye all ye ritcheous
those that walk the sinner's way
if I had a nickle every time i lived through judgement day
put a hole in the roof, let a little light in
and don't complain when the rain puts the cold in your skin
the dark cloud rains itself away

G Train

by Jessica Segall

you see a little G a runnin' down the line
make's you wonder if it's runnin' eastern standard time
if you're shaving in the morning, can't catch no slack
while you're waitin' for the G train it'll grow right back
and hang around with all nomadic men named Mack
and watch bags blow over the track, Jack

G train ch'boogie

Well, waitin' for the G, you better wait in style
read the gossip pages in the Post for a while
when you're finished you can grab another rag from the stack
count the daily losses from the war in Iraq
when you've read the situation from the front to back
you can throw yourself on the track, Jack

G train, G train ch'boogie

You're a Brooklyn brother, got a woman in Queens
and you try to ride the G train 'cause it runs in between
even though you try to catch your woman fast as you can
you find she's gone and left you for a punctual man
and if it makes you sad it takes an hour to travel one mile
you can boogie to the corner you can cry for a while

G train, G train ch'boogie

if you're in the outer boroughs and convicted of crime
it's seeming like the G train might be your kind of line
because the MTA designed it and they thought it was fine
but the person who aligned it well they must have been blind
put a county court house on each end of the line
feels like ridin' that train's doing time!

It's Too Hot

by Jessica Segall

it's too hot to make love in this town
gotta sleep in the shape of a star
i told you that i love you
till my last breath goes down
it's too hot to make love in this town

bust another tire
across that railroad track
there's a shadow in that lorry load
pass out in a chicken shack
if the sun it stops its screaming, my head it won't explode
you can hop on back, head up on that road

drove 1,000 miles with my arms aroud your waist
ask you to drive faster my heart begins to race
when we reach that border, i'll ask you to slow down
my love might drown

it's too hot...

spend your last dollar on petrol
i'll spend mine on a beer
get a chump to fix that timing chain, get the hell on out of here
with a belly full of cane juice, my head it won't explode
hop on back, head up on that road

well the sun keeps getting higher
the sky keeps getting clearer
i got a sunburn the way the sunlight hits your mirror
if the locals would stop staring, my head it won't explode
hop on back, head up on that road

The Lady Wins Again

by Joe Lee

Come on all you people with your fury and your sound
don't you live in a house of cards or the breeze will blow you down
Find your true companion, match your hearts with spades
If you bluff on the flop you will cry on the river all
you hear is someone say....

Jane he called as he followed her to the Red Dog Saloon
still in pain from the wounds but, ah she hadn't loved him in over two moons
she payed no attention when she saw Cowboy Jack
she laid her silver down on the felt and opened up the deck

face to face with a fatalist for certain now he saw
Calamity, the Cowboy, the Indian are one of you gonna draw
the queen was at the table, Jack looked in his hand
Suicide King, one-eyed jacks madness takes a man.

...And the lady wins again
Ain't no foolin' with the upper hand
and the men don't mind losin'
they seem to think
it's of there own choosin'
...and the lady wins again

Martha Jane Canary holdin' a pair of queens
leanin' on Jack, a perfect stranger, the man of her dreams
But Jack he held his heart an ace and an eight
Jane smiles Lone Wolf saw soon it would be too late.

Jack had been around, some called him "Wild Bill"
He'd never seen a woman before for whom he was willing to kill
But, he and the heathen held pretty much the same cards
this dawn she lied in an others arms, but they never payed any regards

The turn card was faced up now black as the ace of spades
in the rafters the floozies looked on dressed up like french maids
Lone Wolf had once told her that this land was cursed
she had a way to make a man feel like he was the first

In the hillside brothel another card from the pack
Lone Wolf's dazzled by her she tips her hand to Jack
thereafter Jack folded and walkin' to the bar
Lone Wolf then raised the stakes a bit higher than the stars

He offered her his heart his soul his future and his past
abdicated his thrown his ancestors and his caste
Jane was hardly moved and wholly unconcerned
Lone Wolf left with out a good-night never to return

the moral of the story, take the bitter pill
some folk lust for pleasure or just a reckless will
just a word to the wise careful who you befriend
and no need to be surprised when the lady wins again...
